Stephanie Achieng is a Nairobi-based spatial designer, researcher, and architect dedicated toreclaiming African authorship in global architectural discourse. Her practice interrogates the intersections of spatial justice, cultural memory, and community resilience, foregrounding invisible narratives sidelined by exclusionary systems to bridge the gap between critical theory and lived realities in fragile contexts.A graduate of the University of Nairobi, she specialized in justice-oriented design at the Delft University of Technology (TU Delft) and design innovation at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU), where she was awarded Best National Project in a global city action initiative presented at the UIA World Congress. With a background of leadership in research and development, Stephanie has spearheaded the advancement of localized material systems for high-level infrastructure. She repositions architectural production as a social process grounded in feminist principles of care, reciprocity and plurality, reflected in her management of gender-responsive projects through participatory frameworks that centre community agency and collective resilience. This inquiry extends to semiotics research, interpreting other ways of knowing as communicative spatial devices that assert cultural identity and sovereignty. As an experienced event curator, Stephanie has co-organized and led discussions for international festivals. She is a fellow with The Centre of Conscious Design (CCD) and Subject Matter Expert and Course Designer for the HyClass Studio digital learning platform, where she develops pedagogical frameworks to democratize vocational knowledge through digital storytelling.
