samuel grover
Samuel Grover is a designer and researcher whose work focuses on spatial inequalities in access to health facilities within underserved communities. He has collaborated on projects across Senegal, Malawi, Kenya, and Somalia, engaging architecture as a means to address disparities in healthcare infrastructure and conditions of care. His research centers on hospital environments in regions with limited access to medical services, examining how spatial design can respond to constraint while improving accessibility, functionality, and resilience. Through this work, he explores the relationship between healthcare systems in the southern United States and the Global South, studying how community-based practices and modes of engagement developed in African contexts can inform more responsive and equitable models of care in the U.S. Samuel is a graduate of Auburn University and currently a student at the Harvard Graduate School of Design, where he is pursuing a Master of Architecture. Across both practice and research, his work is driven by a commitment to developing precise, context-responsive design strategies that contribute to improving access to healthcare and the quality of life in underserved communities. At the Biennale, Samuel contributes to the curatorial and research framework through a focus on healthcare infrastructure, spatial equity, and the role of architecture in addressing systemic disparities across different geographic and socio-economic contexts.
